This game series, known in the US as Fatal Fury, has since grown to five sequals. It has also been made into three Japanese Animation movies. Mai also makes appearences in the King of Fighters fighting game series. Both these game series are developed by SNK on the Neo Geo game platform. Mai's main love interest is another Fatal Fury character named Andy Bogard (why? Why? WHY?!?). Andy trained under Mai's grandfather, Hanzo Shiranui. However, Mai trained under Jubei Yamada, a more than slightly sukebe old sensei who also appears in the Fatal Fury Special game.
